These bulbs can be planted close together like eggs in a carton a small amount of space. 10 bulbs can fit in 1 square foot of space. Makes a beautiful bouquet come spring.
Dig 6-8" down and place the bulbs pointy side up. Water them in well before you cover them back up. Backfill with soil and water them one more time. You don't need to fertilize because they have everything they need in the bulb.
Protect tulips from deer inside fencing or other protection and then wait for them to push up in April/May. Cut flower growers dig/pull out the whole bulb for maximum stem length as these tulips usually do not come back each year. Rinse off the stems, cut off the bulbs and put them in fresh water.
Bring them in just as the bud begins to color and you will be amazed to find these tulips last upwards of 2 weeks! Enjoy these alone or add plant a complementary color for a luscious bouquet.
